News for lovers of shopping suitable for all budgets: after sweeping with its low-cost items in Eastern Europe, HalfPrice opens a giant store in the Community of Madrid. The Polish chain has announced that, during the first quarter of 2025, it will open an outlet in Oasiz, the famous Torrejón shopping center.
Off-price business model
HalfPrice has a network of buyers who source products from past seasons or products that cannot come out of inventory due to overstock (a phenomenon that occurs when companies have more items than they can sell efficiently).
Its business model, known as off-price, allows the chain to lower the prices of its items, most of which are brands such as Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Levis, Adidas or Roxy. Although fashion apparel is the star of its inventory, the chain also sells home décor, toys, pet supplies and snacks.
Target: 50 stores in Spain
Although it currently has only one store on the Iberian Peninsula -the onethat opened two months ago in Puerto Venecia, the shopping resort in Zaragoza-, the chain is aiming to open 50 stores in Spain and 10 in Portugal over the next few years. Its current objective is to grow in southern Europe, especially in the Spanish market.
