The parking problems in the districts surrounding the center of Madrid have prompted the Governing Board to invest 17.3 million euros in the expansion of parking spaces in areas such as Madrid Río and Matadero.
The first district to release parking spaces and parking meters next year will be Usera: Almendrales, Pradolongo and Moscardó will have a total of 6,459 more places to leave the car. 2,564 in Almendrales, 2,393 in Pradolongo and 1,502 more in Moscardó.
This novelty has meant the activation of parking meters in the three neighborhoods. The Regulated Parking Service (SER) is activated today, Monday December 2nd, in the areas of Usera that are going to release parking spaces.
More green than blue zones
Most of the spaces will be designed for Usera residents. Of the 2,296 new parking spaces in Almendrales, 2,564 will be enabled as green zones and only 268 as blue zones. The same will happen in Pradolongo, with 2,149 green and 244 blue. In Moscardó there will be no new blue spaces; the 1,502 will be green.
Both residents of Usera and other citizens will be able to use blue and green parking spaces. However, parking in the latter is more expensive for non-residents. On the contrary, residents of the three neighborhoods will have the opportunity to pay €2.05 per month (or a fee of €24.60 per year) for parking in green zones with no time limit.
