New change in the subsidies for the purchase of Cercanías tickets. As of July 1, 2025, Cercanías will introduce an unprecedented system: a single monthly pass for 20 euros, valid for all areas and hubs in Spain.
This announcement is part of a package of transport subsidies that has marked the last few years. Since 2022, millions of passengers have benefited from historic discounts, a temporary gratuity that will remain in force until June 30 next year. From then on, the free ticket will give way to a new format of adjusted prices.
The measure is not limited to Madrid. Other Cercanías hubs, from Asturias to Andalusia, will also be part of this flat rate. Trains from Seville, Bilbao, Valencia, Zaragoza and many other destinations will be incorporated into a scheme designed to universalize public transport, with additional benefits for young people and the youngest members of the household.
In the words of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez: “This is just the beginning. The goal is to extend aids that alleviate the pocket of travelers and reinforce a fairer and more sustainable public transport”.
