The strike that on Tuesday last week was called by the unions CCOO, UGT and the Sindicato Libre de Transporte (SLT), which intended to make strikes in urban and interurban buses in the Community of Madrid for a month, is officially called off.
Yesterday there was already a pre-agreement in which labor improvements were included, such as a salary increase of 4.5% for this year, and increases equivalent to the real CPI plus 1.25% for the years 2026 and 2027. In addition, improvements have been introduced in the night differentials, among other required improvements.
No bus strike in Madrid

The strike, which was due to start today and could have been extended until May 29, on single days and different schedules, has been paralyzed thanks to a mediation act at the Regional Institute of Mediation and Arbitration between the convening organizations and the Confebus employers’ association.
The agreement was reached with the majority of the workers in the assembly of each of the organizations involved in the strike.
Among the improvements achieved, in addition to wages, is one of their biggest complaints: avoiding working days of 12 or more hours, as was the case in many cases. They will also receive better pay on holidays when they have to work, thanks to a 75% increase in the value of overtime.
Another strike paralyzed
The longest garbage collection strike of the decade in Madrid ended on Monday 28, after six days of stoppage and accumulation of waste in the streets. From Monday, April 21 to Sunday, April 27, the unions demanded wage improvements and job stability for the workers, finally reaching an agreement with progressive wage increases and new social benefits. Although minimum services were maintained in hospitals and schools, the city suffered the accumulation of garbage, especially in neighborhood communities, where there are still remnants of these last weeks.
