Madrid is full of parks and green spaces, but you don’t have to go to the pond in the Retiro or the one in Casa de Campo to enjoy a nice lake. With precisely this same name, the Lago de Loranca park has reopened its doors in Fuenlabrada, south of the capital.
The park has been closed in recent months for improvement work and now features more street furniture, greenery, and better lighting. According to the Fuenlabrada City Council, the renovation has made it possible to “spruce up the park” and“respond to residents’ requests by improving the city’s public spaces.”
A €150,000 improvement

The renovation has made it possible to clean the lake’s water and restore its bottom, which has improved the quality of the ecosystem. In addition, special care has been taken with the vegetation, planting new meadows, adding more plants in various parts of the park, and optimizing the irrigation system.
As announced by the city council, the work involved an investment of nearly 150,000 euros. In the opinion of Councilman Raúl Jubín, this represents “a commitment to environmental protection, sustainability, and quality of life in the city’s neighborhoods.”
Fountains, ping pong tables, and decorative lighting

Now, Lago de Loranca Park also features more functional spaces and amenities. Highlights include a new drinking fountain, ping-pong tables, and picnic areas, ideal for enjoying a meal outdoors.
And for those who love evening strolls, darkness will no longer be an issue. The lighting systems have been upgraded and decorative lighting has been added, enhancing the experience both practically and visually.
Finally, walkways and bridges have been replaced to facilitate access, trash cans have been renewed, and the perimeter fences and streetlights have been painted, contributing to the maintenance of the grounds.
