Although going out to party with her is—unfortunately—impossible, those who wish to get a little closer to Gloria Fuertes and her work can do so in one of the three literary booths that will be temporarily installed in Madrid: simply pick up the phone to listen not only to her poetry, but also to the works of other unforgettable authors such as Lorca, Machado, Emily Dickinson, María Moliner, and Shakespeare, as well as excerpts from Don Quixote.
This curious and original listening installation, recommended for audiences aged 10 and up, lasts approximately 180 minutes, and admission is free and open to the public until capacity is reached.
Its itinerant nature has taken it, between late March and mid-April, to the Nueva Numancia Market (Puente de Vallecas), Rafaela Ybarra Avenue (Usera), and Remonta Square (Tetuán).
Locations of the literary booths in Madrid
The next—and final—opportunity to enjoy this literary installation will be this coming Saturday, May 23, at 6:00 p.m. on Peña Gorbea Boulevard (Puente de Vallecas), bringing full circle an event that began on March 22 in the same district.
The activity will take place as part of the Puente de Vallecas Book Fair and will be accessible to people in wheelchairs. Please note that, as this is an outdoor activity, it is subject to weather conditions.
Other booths in Madrid

This isn’t the first time these distinctive red telephone booths have appeared in Madrid or its surrounding towns: in December 2023, Boadilla del Monte installed one to serve as a book exchange point.
With a very different aesthetic and purpose, a monument-tribute to Antonio Mercero was unveiled in Chamberí a couple of years earlier, modeled after the phone booth from *La cabina*, which was filmed just a few meters away.
