Nativity scenes are an important part of Christmas plans, and although Madrid city concentrates many of them -such as the Neapolitan one in the Retiro, one of the largest in Spain- in other parts of the region there are many proposals worth knowing. Among them, for example, the Monumental Nativity Scene of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, but also others as original as a large Playmobil Nativity Scene.
The Madrid town that hosts it since last December 1 and until January 5, 2025 is Collado Mediano, thanks to the collaboration between the Festivities Commission and the City Council of the municipality, and in total has more than 5,000 of these mythical pieces.
“It is not just a Christmas display, but a real work of art,” they say from the consistory collaíno. Be that as it may, what is clear is that they have designed an unconventional nativity scene in which in addition to finding the usual characters there are also unexpected elements such as a lottery girl selling tickets or a car from Back to the Future floating in the air.
A Playmobil Nativity Scene with a side of solidarity.
As we already anticipated in the subtitle of this article, the entrance to visit this curious nativity scene is completely free. However, it has a clear vocation of solidarity and that is why they want to raise funds for the Pita Lopez Foundation.
To this end, anyone who visits the crib and wants to collaborate can do so through a voluntary donation from 1 €.
Hours and days of visit
The Nativity Scene is located in the Youth Hall of the municipality and can be visited from 12h to 14h and from 17h to 20h. The opening days are December 14 and 15 and from December 19 to January 5. On the other hand, the Playmobil Nativity Scene will be closed on December 24, 25 and 31 and January 1.
