More than two hundred figures, about three hundred complements and architectures and scenographies created ex profeso. That could be a first approach to Angelicum: The Splendor of the Neapolitan Nativity Scene, the Neapolitan Nativity of the Retiro -one of the largest in Spain- that can be visited from this Friday at the Montaña de los Gatos (Paseo Duque de Fernán Núñez).
For the second consecutive year, this space -recovered for the citizenship in 2023- will host this set in which “historical pieces coexist with many others from contemporary Neapolitan artists and artisans,” explained from the City of Madrid. Its assembly, by the way, is the work of Mayo Taller de Arte.
The Neapolitan Nativity Scene of the Retiro belongs to the Basanta-Martin Collection, considered one of the most important of its kind in the world. Its history dates back to 1977 and is in continuous growth.
Dates and schedule of the Neapolitan Nativity Scene of the Retiro
The Neapolitan Nativity Scene of the Retiro can be visited from November 29 to January 12 from 11 am to 1 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Nativity scenes for Christmas 2024
One of the most typical plans for these dates is, precisely, to make a route of cribs. In this link you can find all that are scheduled for this Christmas. As a novelty, in addition to the traditional ones, this year there will also be projected nativity scenes.
Other formats of nativity scenes that are usually very well received are the monumental ones. So far we have told you about two of them: the Monumental Nativity Scene of San Sebastián de los Reyes and the Monumental Nativity Scene of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. In both cases the visit is completely free.
