The patron saint festivities come to the south of Madrid. Torrejón de Ardoz and Guadarrama will not be the only cities hosting popular celebrations these days, as Leganés will enjoy its festivities in honor of San Nicasio from October 3 to 12.
In the musical field, top level artists such as Marlena, Nil Moliner, Funambulista, Íñigo Quintero or Hey Kid, among others, will perform. The stage will be located at the San Nicasio Fairgrounds and admission will be free.
Medina Azahara, emerging talent and brass bands

Rock will take center stage this year, with the “Festival San Nicasio Rock” on Friday, October 10, with performances by Dura Calá, Peteneras, Desastre and Medina Azahara starting at 9:00 p.m. at the Recinto Ferial .
In addition, the City Council has opted for emerging local talent and on Sunday 12 Bonnie Dies, winner of the Leganés a Ritmo Joven contest, will perform on the same stage. His performance will begin at 20:30 pm, preceding that of Marlena.
There will be tribute performances to indie songs with the group Metroindie and resounding successes of the hand of the New York Orchestra. Nor will miss the most popular music of the parades, batucadas and charangas that will animate the streets of Leganés during the festivities.
Sports, popular meals and games

The town criers of the San Nicasio festivities will be the Leganés Volleyball Club and the Leganés Basketball Club, who have just been promoted and represent the effort and overcoming of the municipality. In addition, there will be volleyball matches, soccer championships and the 47th San Nicasio Popular Race. Tickets can be purchased online from the website, with options for children’s participation and for running 8 or 4 kilometers.
Local associations will also prepare several popular meals, including those on Saturday 11: a popular sardinada at the fairgrounds, lemonade without alcohol and distribution of chocolate with biscuits in the Plaza de Extremadura. The final touch will be the Popular Paella on Sunday 12, which will be accompanied by the performance of Crazy Cabin Sextet, at the Fairgrounds from 14:30 pm.
Finally, there will be popular games such as mus, sack races, pasodobles contests or magic shows. There will be processions and religious events in honor of San Nicasio and attractions at the fairgrounds.
