You can turn a visit to a museum into a great Saturday night plan , and that is what is proposed once again on October 4 by the initiative El Prado by Night, which opens the doors of the museum to the public free of charge at night only once every 30 days.
The event always takes place on the first Saturday of each month from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm, but one of its great attractions is that it changes the part of the collection that can be visited each time, as well as the temporary exhibitions.
Thus, each visit is different and there is always an incentive to return. On this occasion, visitors will be able to tour the entire first floor of the Villanueva building, where Romanesque and Gothic, Renaissance and 19th century paintings are on display.
Among the paintings on display are works by artists such as Bosch, Van der Weyden, Sofonisba Anguissola, Fra Angelico, Patinir, Madrazo, Angelica Kauffmann, Aurelia Navarro, María Roësset, Fortuny and Goya.
This Saturday’s temporary exhibition

The temporary exhibition to be visited is entitled The painter Antonio Muñoz Degrain (1840 – 1924), an artist whom the museum describes as “one of the most original figures of Spanish art of the 19th century”.
The exhibition consists of a dozen works -some of which have been recently restored- and in them you can appreciate “the thematic variety, technical mastery and aesthetic vision of the Valencian painter,” according to El Prado.
Beyond this special occasion, the exhibition can be visited at the museum until January 11, 2026 in Room 60 of the Villanueva Building.
The photocall and the cafeteria
As we said, in addition to the visits themselves, the museum will have a photocall specially designed for the occasion where visitors can take a photo to immortalize the memory.
On the other hand, the terrace of the museum cafeteria will also remain open for a drink. The menu can be consulted at this link.
