The demands and celebrations of LGTBI+ Pride return to Madrid for yet another year, with a controversy surrounding the official poster including. From Friday, July 28 through Sunday, July 7, the official Program will feature cultural festivals, conferences, awards and concerts. The novelty of this year is that a new stage has been added, the Puerta del Sol, and for the first time there is a guest country: Colombia.
Although the different concerts and activities around the celebration of diversity will officially begin on June 28, we will have to wait until Saturday, July 6 for the arrival of one of the highlights of this event: the official LGTBI+ Pride demonstration. The march will take place from 7 p.m. and the route will be from the Carlos V traffic circle to Plaza de Colón.

june 28 – July 7 – Concerts
The four locations in Madrid that will host the more than 5o shows that will be held these weeks will be the Plaza del Rey -which as has become customary will be renamed for a few days Plaza de las Reinas-, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de España and Plaza de Pedro Zerolo. The Program includes the winner of the last edition of Eurovision, Nemo, as well as national artists such as Sara Socas and La Zowi.
july 3 – Proclamation in Pedro Zerolo Square
The celebrations of the MADO’24 will begin at 21:00 h on Wednesday July 3 at Pedro Zerolo square. The starting gun of Pride 2024 will be choral, four participants of the last edition of OT will do it: Violeta, Chiara, Juanjo and Martín. And as in previous years it will be presented by La Plexy.
july 4th – Heel Race and Drag Pride

The twenty-fifth edition of the Heel Race, which has already become a tradition in Madrid’s LGTBI+ Pride Festivities, will have its usual route along Pelayo Street on the afternoon of July 4. A sports-festive activity that consists of walking down the street in the shortest time possible on platforms and heels up to 15 centimeters high.
The Drag Pride will be the protagonist of the afternoon in Plaza de España. This special section within the MADO will start at 8 p.m. with the Drag Bingo and will be extended with different performances, including Merche, until midnight.
july 5 – Summit 2024 and Mr. Olympia. Gay Spain
The offices of the European Parliament and the European Commission in Spain will host the Summit 2024 meetings. A series of debates and dialogues around the different LGTBI+ realities that will take place during from 9.30 am to 6 pm.
On the same day, but in the Plaza de España, the Mr. Gay, a contest that makes visible different stories within the gay men’s community in our country. The event, presented by Bárbara Rey, consists of choosing among the finalists the new representative of Mr. Olympia. Gay Spain.
july 6 – Pride 2024 Demonstration

The statewide Pride 2024 demonstration has been called for Saturday, July 6, and its route will be from the Carlos V traffic circle to Plaza de Colón. This year’s theme is “Education, rights and peace: Pride that transforms.” The floats and demonstrators will once again travel through the streets of Madrid starting at 7 p.m., making it one of the largest Pride demonstrations in Europe and an international benchmark.
july 7 – MADO’24 Closing Ceremony
On July 7, the last Madrid Pride event will take place. The closing ceremony of MADO’24 will put an end to a few days of protest and fun at the Plaza de España. This last event will bring together the performances of Sara Socas, Nebulossa and Nemo.
Critical Pride 2024
On June 28 the other demonstration, the Critical Pride, will start at the Bilbao traffic circle at 8 pm. This demonstration tries to return to the origins of the protest, leaving aside the more commercial side of the collective’s claim, in which they believe the official Program has become. The Critical Pride platform has communicated that this year’s main message is “against genocide and colonial pinkwashing.”
