The dates for LGTBIQ+ Pride 2024 in Madrid have been set since the past month of January when they were unveiled at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur). Already then it was established that the calendar would run from June 28 to July 7, but it has not been this weekend when from the organization of Madrid Pride (MADO) have advanced some of the free concerts that will be this year.
It has been through several publications through its X profile -formerly Twitter- in which it can be seen that the stages will be located in Puerta del Sol, in plaza del Rey in Chueca -which, as usual, will be renamed Plaza de las Reinas for a few days- and plaza de España.
Beyond the merely touristic event that it has become for some, we must not forget that the roots in which it sinks its origin are to be found in the Stonewall riots in 1969, considered as the spark that fueled the demand for civil rights of the collective. Platforms such as Critical Pride work every year to do so and organize their own demonstration.
