The radar that imposes more fines in the whole city of Madrid is located in the M-30, specifically at kilometer 4.150, in the tunnel of Avenida de Portugal, direction of entry to the capital. This device has established itself as the most active in the capital and one of the most “fining” in all of Spain, both in terms of the number of complaints and the annual collection, according to data from Automovilistas Europeos Asociados ( AEA).
In 2024, this radar issued a total of 53,953 complaints for speeding, placing it above the rest of the devices in the city and the fines it registered in 2023. The collection associated with these fines amounted to 5,741,700 euros in a single year, which means an average of almost 480,000 euros per month and more than 15,700 euros each week.
The M-30 is the road with the most infractions in Madrid, accumulating 54% of all speeding fines in the city. In total, Madrid’s municipal radars imposed 475,310 fines in 2024, with an overall collection of 51.7 million euros, of which a significant part corresponds to the devices on the M-30.
Why is this speed camera the one that fines the most?
There are three main reasons why this radar is the one that fines the most in Madrid. First, its strategic location: the radar is located in a tunnel at the entrance to Madrid, where the speed limit is 70 km/h, a stretch where many drivers exceed the limit without noticing.
In addition, this is an area of high traffic density; the M-30 is one of the busiest roads in the capital, which increases the number of vehicles controlled and, therefore, the chances of penalties. And finally, the radar at km 4.150 has maintained its activity almost all year, consolidating its leadership in the ranking of fines, while some radars on the M-30 have been inactive due to works or revisions,
