This Friday, Madrid is prematurely imbued with Christmas atmosphere with a world record, that of the longest turron on the planet. In the iconic Real Casa de Correos, headquarters of the presidency of the Community of Madrid and heart of the Puerta del Sol, a nougat of several tens of meters that aims to beat all previous records will be made, as part of the celebration of the Day of Nougat and as a preview of the Christmas campaign in the city.
The initiative, promoted by the Association of Chefs and Confectioners of Madrid (ACYRE) in collaboration with the Community of Madrid, ACYRE Canarias and the City Council of Santiago del Teide, will bring together master confectioners from both regions to achieve this sweet historical feat. The event aims to highlight the role of nougat as one of the most distinctive sweets of Spanish Christmas.

The elaboration will start early in the morning and the nougat will begin to be distributed, completely free of charge, from 11:00 am in the Calle del Correo (side of the Casa de Correos), allowing locals and tourists to enjoy this exquisite delicacy at no cost and celebrate together the arrival of the holidays.
In addition to seeking the record, the event aims to bring together hundreds of people around a symbol of union, involving everyone who wants to approach and generating festive atmosphere from the first week of November. This public tasting will be the perfect preview of a Christmas campaign that will fill the city with light and flavor, claiming the nougat as the protagonist of the celebrations and local cuisine.
