Madrid will be dyed green in honor of Ireland during the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. From March 10 to 17 , there will be all kinds of activities with references to Celtic culture, including a parade that will take 600 pipers from Gran Vía to Plaza de España.
In the third Madrid edition of Ireland Week, the organizers want to get the participation of a thousand people and put the capital’s parade in the international spotlight. It will start at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, under the direction of the musician Bras Rodrigo, who will arrive with the Banda de Gaites de Corvera (Asturias).
Rodrigo coordinated the St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York for 12 years. He has made the best Galician and Asturian pipe bands travel all over the world (Germany, Taiwan, Morocco, Argentina and many more countries).
What to do after the parade?

St. Patrick’s Day program
All the activities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day have been confirmed. There will be an Irish film show at the Cineteca ( from March 11 to 16, at 8 p.m.); traditional music and dance performances by the UCD Society at the Gran Vía station (from March 11 to 17, at 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, and at 12 p.m. on weekends); concerts and even special lighting at Cibeles (all the details of the program here).
Ideas for the afterparty
In addition, we know of several pubs in Madrid where it is worth making a stop during the tribute to the Emerald Isle (some even have language exchanges). From more traditional, such as Parnasillo del Príncipe or Fontana de Oro, to more avant-garde, such as Irish Rover or James Joyce. This link reveals the essential ones.
