Madrid’s great festival returns to the meadow, and it’s time to break out the parpusas and carnations for San Isidro 2026. From May 8 to 17, weather permitting, there will be ten days of concerts, traditional events, and family-friendly activities throughout Madrid. The epicenter will once again be the Pradera de San Isidro (Carabanchel), but the official program also confirms major stages at Plaza Mayor, Jardines de las Vistillas, and Matadero Madrid, as well as activities in neighborhoods and district cultural centers.
The opening address for the festivities will be given by writer and journalist Sonsoles Ónega on May 8 at 8:00 p.m. in the Plaza de la Villa, followed by a parade of giants and big-heads that will mark the official start of San Isidro 2026. From there, the city will be filled with free music, chotis, pilgrimages, fairs, and a bullfighting calendar that runs through early June.
San Isidro 2026 Concerts
In addition to the traditional rituals of heading down to the meadow, dressing up as a chulapo, and dancing the chotis, there is a stellar lineup of free concerts spread across San Isidro Park, the Vistillas Gardens, Plaza Mayor, and Matadero Madrid.
There will be nearly thirty performances featuring such diverse acts as Los Chunguitos, Fangoria, Miguel Ríos, La Bien Querida, La Paloma, Carlangas, and Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, who will fill the nights from May 8 to 17 with music. With this blend of tradition and free outdoor live performances, San Isidro once again establishes itself as Madrid’s must-attend spring event. The San Isidro 2026 lineup

The City Council has already unveiled the poster for the 2026 San Isidro Festival, which serves as the official image for these patron saint festivities. This year, the illustrator chosen by the Madrid City Council’s Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sports is Laura Floris.
The artist is known on social media for illustrating postcard-worthy urban landscapes with a special focus on the capital. The poster captures the atmosphere of the meadow with the chulapos as the central focus, surrounded by a stand selling rosquillas, churros, and carnations, a stage, and the San Isidro chapel in the background as the finishing touch.
Solemn Procession of San Isidro 2026
On May 15, the patron saint’s feast day, the solemn procession of San Isidro takes place through the center of Madrid, one of the most traditional events on the entire program. The statue of the saint leaves the Royal Collegiate Church of San Isidro and makes its way through the historic center accompanied by religious authorities, brotherhoods, and devotees, passing through streets such as Toledo and areas near Plaza Mayor and the Almudena Cathedral.
This procession concludes a full day of religious events celebrating the saint on his feast day.
San Isidro with Kids in 2026
San Isidro 2026 once again places special emphasis on programming for children and families. At the Pradera and other locations throughout the city, there will be storytelling, puppet shows, magic acts, traditional workshops to learn the chotis dance or decorate botijos, parades of giants and big-heads, and concerts designed for young audiences, especially in the mornings and early afternoons from May 8 to 17.
Almost all activities take place at the Pradera de San Isidro, on the family stage, which is specially dedicated to this purpose. But you can check out the full children’s program at the following link.
San Isidro Fireworks 2026
The fireworks display will once again bring the festivities to a close. The show will take place on the night of May 15, around midnight, and can be viewed from the Pradera and other elevated vantage points in the city.
It is recommended to arrive a little early, use public transportation, avoid the most crowded areas if you are going with children, and follow the safety guidelines set by the City Council.
