The squall Herminia, coming from the west of the British Isles, has just arrived in Madrid. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has declared the metropolitan area and the Henares corridor on yellow alert for strong winds that can reach 70 kilometers per hour. Today, Monday, January 27, the warning for squalls will remain until 18:00 hours in the capital and south of Madrid.
Before this type of squall, the Civil Protection service recommends special caution on the road. Herminia has already caused traffic problems early in the morning: there have been accidents on the A-2, near Torrejón, and on the A-5, near Alcorcón.
Between 10:00 and 12:00 hours, the AEMET has registered a 100% probability of rain. Although the sky will be cloudy, the sun will come out at midday, between 13:00 and 14:00 hours. Temperatures will be mild: between 6 and 14 degrees.
Between one and six in the morning, the AEMET registers a 75% probability of thunderstorms. The warning for strong winds will not be activated, but it is recommended to take due precautions against possible rain gusts.
The Sierra de Guadarrama on alert until Tuesday
In the northern towns of Madrid, especially in the Sierra de Guadarrama, the warning for squalls and snowfall will be activated until 17:00 on Tuesday. The storm probabilities rise during the early morning of the 28th (between 2:00 and 6:00 in the morning).
