There are still a few days left until the famous World Book Day, celebrated on April 23 each year, but Usera has already launched its own book fair dedicated to literature. The event will take place in the Moscardó neighborhood, and the program kicks off this Friday, running throughout the weekend.
More than 30 authors, bookstores, and publishers from the district will gather around Plaza Romana, where admission will be free for all residents and visitors. On both Friday and Saturday, the Usera Book Fair will begin at 5:30 p.m., while on Sunday it will open in the morning at 11:30 a.m.
Theater, awards, and workshops

The schedule features a wide variety of activities for all audiences. Permanent highlights include reading stations and a book exchange point. Both are ideal for discovering new reads, and there will also be baskets with newly arrived publications, a wall of recommendations, and evena “blind date”to discover new titles.
Children can listen to storytellers and visit a traveling library on Friday, while Sunday will feature a family workshop and a theater performance of Andalusian comedies, bringing reading to the whole family.
As a nod to the neighborhood, on Saturday there will also be a Chinese workshop and a literary quiz organized by the neighborhood association’s book club, with the prize to be awarded on Sunday.
Finally, to promote writing, Usera is organizing its own contest for short stories, poetry, and comics. The winners will be announced on Saturday, April 18, with a prize of 150 euros for the winners in each category.
Writers and local talent

The Usera Book Fair is made possible thanks to the collaboration between the district’s Writers’ Association and the Moscardó Neighborhood Association, which have organized the event and invited several local writers to participate .
This will be the perfect opportunity to meet and get autographs from authors such as Luna Martín Martín, Marta González Peláez, Francisco Javier Mata, Anita Blanco, José Luis Labad, and Irina Moroct.
Writer Teresa Olalla Tomey will also participate ; on her Instagram, she has expressed her excitement and gratitude to the team: “I am proud to participate because of my connection to Usera, ”she writes in a post.
