In the heart of the Sierra de Gredos, just over an hour and a half from Madrid, hides a natural paradise perfect for summer: the Pozo de las Paredes. This wild pool, nestled between granite walls and crossed by the Barbellido River, is one of the favorite destinations for those looking for a swim away from the usual crowds.
The enclave dazzles for its unique stamp: a medieval bridge of robust masonry – erected to unite the mountain villages – presides over the natural canyon and connects both banks. Under the arch of the bridge, the water descends crystal clear, forming deep pools where you can swim, jump from the rocks (always with caution) or let yourself be carried away by the gentle current, without a trace of urbanization around.
A few meters away, a picnic area surrounded by pine trees invites you to spread out your blanket, eat calmly and spend the afternoon protected from the sun. The murmur of the river, the cool shade and the smell of the mountains make this area a real country luxury, ideal for those who appreciate the simplicity of an outdoor picnic. For those with less foresight , there is also the option of going to the local bar, which is in a small stone house and has a very pleasant terrace.
