Cuéntame cómo pasó has been the longest-running Spanish series on our television and one of the most beloved by audiences of several generations. Perhaps this affection is due, in part, to its unique ability to portray an evolving society, from the political and social climate to other more seemingly incidental aspects such as what was served at family meals when the Alcántaras sat down together at the table… and which anyone can now enjoy in the form of a menu.
La mesa de los Alcántara. Aromas y recuerdos de los años 60 y 70 ( The Alcántara family table. Aromasand memories of the 60sand 70s) is the gastronomic offering with which La Hostería del Estudiante at the Parador de Turismo in Alcalá de Henares pays tribute to the popular television series by serving iconic dishes from those decades, using the legendary colored tempered glass tableware from Duralex.
The recipes chosen, faithful both to the traditional cuisine of the time and to the spirit of the series, seekto“transport us to the kitchens of our parents and grandparents, where time seemed to stand still between stews and after-dinner conversations,” explain Paradores.
What dishes are on the Cuéntame menu and how much does it cost?

The menu, which will be available until April 12, includes appetizers and a starter, main course, and dessert of your choice for €48 per person (excluding drinks). The “entertainments” consist of eggs stuffed with tuna and tomato with pink sauce, Russian salad on potato chips, stew croquettes, and Pavía soldiers (battered cod fritters accompanied by red pepper).
For starters, you can choose between potatoes with cockles and peppers stuffed with meat, while the main course can be Madrid-style escalopes or hake in almond and saffron sauce.
For dessert, there will be a choice of four classic options: rice pudding with cinnamon, custard with biscuits, fried milk, and caramel flan. In addition, every Sunday there will be a suggestion on the menu that was a must at the time: paella.
