The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum is adding a new series of free guided tours to its program, offering visitors the chance to discover some of the works in its permanent collection. The initiative begins on October 31 and will allow visitors to tour the museum’s galleries with a guide, viewing paintings by artists such as Claude Monet, Canaletto, and Winslow Homer.
Reservations open this Friday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m., and space is limited: 25 free tickets are available per session. The tours will take place on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and will last one hour.
A free tour of the Thyssen’s masterpieces

Under the title “The Sea: A Living Legacy,” the museum has designed a tour focused on the relationship between art and the maritime world. The tour brings together paintings from different eras that show how the sea has served as a backdrop for depicting nature, trade, fishing, and the lives of those who work by the water.
Among the selected works are paintings by Claude Monet, Caspar David Friedrich, Canaletto, and Natalia Goncharova. Also noteworthy is Winslow Homer’s *The Danger Signal*, a work created between 1890 and 1896 that reflects the risks of life at sea.
This initiative, developed in collaboration with Grupo Consorcio, offers a chance to explore some of the works in the permanent collection from a different perspective, focusing on details and connections that might go unnoticed during a typical visit.
