The Mercado del Encanto has established itself as one of Madrid’s leading pop-up markets after more than a decade of operation and over 150 editions. Its hallmark is a curated selection of brands and products not typically found in traditional stores, with the added bonus of being able to speak directly with the designers or producers of what you’re buying.
This edition is being held at the Palacio de Santa Bárbara (87 Hortaleza Street, between Alonso Martínez and Chueca), a 19th-century building with bright rooms, high ceilings, and a small garden that lends itself to strolling and leisurely shopping.
Dates, times, and admission
The pop-up will be at the palace for three days, from Friday to Sunday, and the organizers note that it will only be open that weekend. The hours remain the same as in previous editions: Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Saturday from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with completely free admission and open access until capacity is reached.
If you want to avoid crowds, the best times are usually early Friday afternoon and mid-morning on Sunday; the lines get longest on Saturday starting around noon, when the food terrace is in full swing.
Up to 30 brands of crafts, fashion, and home decor
Around 30 exhibitors are participating in this edition, a mix of emerging brands and established artisanal projects. There’s something for everyone: women’s, men’s, and children’s fashion; designer jewelry; fashion jewelry; handbags and accessories; prints and illustrations; home decor; stationery; natural cosmetics; and small artisanal food projects.
One of the keys to the Mercado del Encanto’s success is its terrace. The courtyard of the Palacio de Santa Bárbara transforms into a sort of gourmet neighborhood courtyard. This edition’s offerings will center around food trucks and outdoor bars, with options ranging from quick bites and casual dishes for vermouth hour to sweet treats for afternoon tea. It’s the perfect place to take a break from shopping, have a drink in the sun (or in the shade of the trees), and extend your outing until late afternoon without leaving the venue.madridinforma.
