The celebration of the Chinese New Year is impregnating these days different points of the capital with the essence of the traditions and culture of the country: gastronomic proposals, parades, exhibitions, workshops and a host of activities account for it. But they are not the only ones: this weekend a great traditional Chinese fair will be added to all the above in Plaza España.
The Chinese Temple Fair will be open for two days only -this Saturday and Sunday, February 8 and 9- between 11 am and 9 pm with different stalls where you can find typical food or decoration, accompanied by music to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Snake.
That’s not all: both days, between 12h and 18:30h, the square will be filled with dance shows, traditional music, Kung Fu exhibitions, dragon and lion dance and even Chinese opera performances or Qipao parades (the dress par excellence of this celebration).
Program of the traditional Chinese fair in Plaza España
The different shows of this traditional fair will be performed by associations, groups and centers of the Chinese community. The first of them, in charge of inaugurating the Chinese Temple Fair, will be a show of dragon dance, lion and traditional drums.
The rest of the weekend will feature urban dances, group singing, folk dances, Chinese opera, a gourd flute ensemble, fan dancing, the aforementioned Qipao parade, sword tai chi exhibitions and a red lantern show.
