As every September at this time, the regional government has approved the working calendar of Madrid for next year. The decision on how the public holiday calendar in Madrid for 2024 will look like is a competence of the Government Council -as stated in Article 37 of the Workers’ Statute- and it has been ratified today.
Through a Decree, which will be sent to the State before the end of the month, the green light has been given to the distribution of the 12 public holidays in Madrid’s working calendar for 2024. To these days will have to be added, as always, another two that correspond to local holidays and that it is up to each of the municipalities of Madrid to set.
Among the holidays in Madrid that are not working are national holidays, such as those corresponding to March 28 and 29 (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday), Thursday, July 25 (Santiago Apostle’s Day), Saturday, October 12 (Columbus Day) or Wednesday, December 25 (Christmas Day).
What will be the public holidays in Madrid in 2024?
- January 1 (Monday), New Year’s Day.
- January 6 (Saturday), Epiphany of the Lord.
- March 28, Maundy Thursday.
- March 29, Good Friday.
- May 1 (Wednesday), Labor Day.
- May 2 (Thursday), Feast of the Community of Madrid.
- July 25 (Thursday), St. James the Apostle.
- August 15 (Thursday), Assumption of the Virgin.
- October 12 (Saturday), Spanish National Holiday.
- November 1 (Friday), All Saints Day.
- December 6 (Friday), Spanish Constitution Day.
- December 25 (Wednesday), Nativity of the Lord.
With these data on the table (and in the absence of knowing the holidays to be set by the city councils), there are many people in Madrid who can begin to make their own work calendar and start thinking about which days of next year they will take vacations.
