The users of some Cercanías Madrid lines will have to find an alternative for their journeys from July 2nd: due to the works to increase the capacity of the Sol tunnel and the improvement of the Atocha station , some stations and lines of the network will be affected.
The works, in their entirety, will be carried out between July 2 and August 30, affecting different sections of the network. Below, we detail the cuts by dates and the alternative means of transport to circulate while the works are being carried out.
Closures due to works on Cercanías, by dates
From July 2 to July 30, 2025: total shutdown between Villaverde Alto and Embajadores (both stations excluded).
- The sections with service on Line C-5 are those between Humanes – Villaverde Alto and Móstoles El Soto – Embajadores. Renfe recommends consulting the timetables before traveling due to the readjustment of the service.
- Stations without train service and station closures: Puente Alcocer, Orcasitas and Doce de Octubre.
- Station with partial closure: Méndez Álvaro. Trains of line C-10 are running, but trains of line C-5 are not running. There is a partial closure of the station due to the turnstiles of line C-5.
- Passengers with Cercanías tickets will be able to access EMT bus services, although there will be no special bus service during the closure.
From July 19 to August 30: total closure of the Sol tunnel.
- Service on lines C-3 and C-4 between Chamartín and Atocha Cercanías will not be available.
- In the case of both lines (C-3 Aranjuez – Atocha, C-4 Parla – Atocha and C-4 Alcobendas / Colmenar – Chamartín Clara Campoamor) it is recommended to consult the timetables before traveling due to service readjustment.
- Station without train service and station closure: Sol.
- Station with partial closure: at Nuevos Ministerios, trains on lines C-2, C-7, C-8 and C-10 will run through the Recoletos tunnel, but services on lines C-3 and C-4 will not be available.
