There are many things that are quintessentially Madrilenian. Among them are: the taverns in Lavapiés, the subway construction sites, and, of course, Mecano. Just say “Five minutes before the countdown…” and everyone knows what comes next. In fact, “Un año más” is celebrating its 38th anniversary since its release in 2026, and now we’ll be able to hear this and other anthems by the band at a tribute concert in downtown Madrid.
It will, in fact, take place just a few meters from Puerta del Sol: at the Four Seasons Hotel in Madrid. And it will be performed by a live string quartet.
There’s just over a week left until the next concert date on November 7. However, three other dates have been confirmed: December 5 of this year, and February 7 and March 21, 2027. In any case, seating is limited, so we recommend booking in advance to make sure you don’t miss out.

“Hawaii Bombay” and “Mujer contra Mujer” are part of the concert’s setlist

The brothers Nacho and José María Cano, along with the vocals of Ana Torroja, have been an essential part of the capital’s history since their beginnings in the Movida Madrileña. And in addition to the annual New Year’s Eve anthem released in 1988, at this concert we’ll also be able to hear some of Mecano’s best-known songs.
The setlist includes the following songs: “Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar,” “Perdido en Mi Habitación,” “Cruz de Navajas,” “Hijo de la Luna,” “Maquillaje,” “Me Cuesta Tanto Olvidarte,” “Hawaii Bombay,” “7 de Septiembre,” “Los Amantes,” “La Fuerza del Destino,” “Mujer Contra Mujer,” “Barco a Venus,” and “Un Año Más.”
Those who grew up before and during the Movida, as well as the children of those who listened to their songs in the car, already have plans for November 7. There are two sessions available: one at 5:00 p.m. and another at 9:00 p.m. And at both, thousands of candles will illuminate every corner of the Four Seasons in Madrid during the concert, as this is one of the Candlelight tributes. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself humming “La cuenta atrás” and deliberately passing by the Puerta del Sol on your way home.
