In 2004, María Teresa Campos had a mansion built in the Molino de la Hoz neighborhood in Las Rozas. The house had it all: a heated pool, vast gardens, a jacuzzi, a fully equipped gym, a wine cellar, a movie theater, and a library… It even had an elevator, as well as 12 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms and, curiously, four small holy water fonts hanging above her headboard.
In total, the property covered 16,000 square meters (with 1,600 square meters for the house alone), in which the former “queen of morning TV” invested several million euros. With interiors designed by her friend Jaime Fierro, it was the TV host’s dream home, but even so (and despite being one of the settings for the reality show *Las Campos*), it was by no means easy to sell.
In 2015, María Teresa Campos decided to put her mansion in Molino de la Hoz up for sale. The 8,000 euros a month in maintenance costs were no longer worth it to her. The price set at the time by the TV host, although quite high (4.3 million euros), was already below what she had invested in the property overall—an amount that, according to Vanitatis, could have added up to 3 million euros on top of the initial investment in the home.
In 2017, she decided to raise the price: she initially asked for 4.5 million for the mansion in Molino de la Hoz, which she had to lower to 3.1 million in 2020. Meanwhile, María Teresa Campos and her home in Las Rozas were the subject of rumors, and the TV host had to deny reports on several occasions claiming that she had completed the sale of the mansion. The long-awaited moment would not come until 2021.
The fate of María Teresa Campos’s mansion
In September 2021, it was announced that María Teresa Campos had finally formalized the sale of her mansion before a notary. The sale price, however, was well below what the TV host had initially anticipated.
According to numerous media reports at the time, José Manuel Gil Roldán, owner of the Spanish footwear brand Alma en Pena, paid 2.5 million euros for the house in Molino de la Hoz. However, in an interview with ¡HOLA! in September 2023, the TV host denied this: “I’m not going to say the amount, but it’s nothing like that. Do you think a house of that size could sell for that price? Impossible. You’d have to give it away for that.”
Half a million more or less, the fact is that what had been a television star’s mansion would, after its sale, become the headquarters of the shoe company Alma en pena. In 2023, El Español reported that, despite the change in use, the house remained practically the same, aside from some minor renovations. Currently, part of the property serves as a corporate headquarters with offices, and the other part as a private residence.
