During the first phase of the cuts in the A-5, the Madrid City Council has published an alternative mobility plan for those who must cross the highway daily. It invites citizens to use public transport, to avoid the area affected by the works that will bury part of the highway and to plan ahead for new routes.
In addition, to warn in real time of traffic cuts, the consistory has launched the creation of an app that will inform about all detours due to works. It will be accessible from any browser or device and can be consulted through this link.
What functionalities will the new application have?
2D map viewer
The application will have a viewer with a 2D map that provides satellite images. Here we will be able to see the updated cuts and the cameras of the Dirección General de Tráfico. In addition, it will have three-dimensional information of the environment (buildings and green areas).
Traffic detector
The new tool will detect traffic flow in real time to show the best alternative routes depending on where we are. It will also provide information on future detours to organize future trips efficiently.
More resources to acquire information about the works
Outside the online world, the consistory has opened a citizen attention office where anyone who wants to know about the development of the undergrounding and the execution of the Paseo Verde del Suroeste will be informed. It is located in the El Greco Cultural Center and can be accessed from Monday to Friday (from 9:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00 h).
