Madrid Río will celebrate the International Day of Families by offering a free family program that will include more than twenty activities and performances. On Saturday, May 18 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, the Multipurpose Esplanade of Madrid will be filled with inflatables, trampolines, music and children’s activities for various ages.
Attendees will be able to participate in pottery workshops, drama dynamics, enjoy live jazz performances, and enjoy a puppet and clown show. In addition, the Municipal Police Canine Unit will offer an exciting exhibition on the main stage, where children will be able to watch the real canine patrol in action.
Leading associations dedicated to supporting families will share information about their services. The Family Support Centers (CAF) and Casa Grande will offer workshops for parents focusing on topics such as emotional intelligence in parenting, crisis management and an activity called “Stories in Parenting”.
More activities
In addition to Saturday’s activities, the CAF and Casa Grande centers will offer special programming throughout the week, with workshops on crafts, drawing and artistic expression for both families and professionals in the field.
At the Centro Cultural Casa del Reloj there will also be specific programming to commemorate the date declared by the United Nations (UN) in 1994.
The aim of the festival organized in Madrid is to offer support for motherhood and fatherhood, to accompany families in the parenting process and to make Madrid an attractive city for the family public. The problems of conciliation and employment, parenting and co-responsibility and Family Policies will be some of the main topics that will be on the table during the next Birth Promotion Plan.
