With Holy Week just around the corner, eyes are once again turned, as they are every year, to the sky: whether for those taking advantage of these days for a spring getaway or for those who wait all year to attend or participate in a procession, the question of whether rain will make an appearance is common across the country. And the AEMET has already released its first weather forecasts for Madrid for those dates.
“Although it’s still early,” they note, “everything points to good weather for Holy Week in the capital, ”as they have posted on their X profile. According to the general forecast, despite overcast or cloudy skies, no rain is expected on Palm Sunday (March 29).
However, according to Rubén del Campo, spokesperson for the AEMET, this Sunday is expected to be a cooler day with lower-than-usual temperatures. In Madrid, highs will range between 10°C and 14°C, and lows between 0°C and 5°C.
What will the weather be like for the rest of Holy Week in Madrid?
As for the weather on the remaining holiday days—Holy Thursday (April 2) and Good Friday (April 3)— it is still too early to know the details of the forecast, as there is no official information available at the time of writing this article.
The forecast only extends through Wednesday, April 1, a day when clearer skies are expected (though with some cloudy intervals) and considerably higher temperatures: lows in Madrid will range between 4°C and 9°C, and highs between 17°C and 21°C.
However, the State Meteorological Agency will be updating the forecast daily until Saturday, April 4. It can be viewed through its social media profiles, such as X, and the “Highlights” section of its website.
