The combination is simple and winning: a plate of freshly made migas for 2 € and craft beer brewed in the mountains of Madrid. This is how the second edition of Cabeernillas, the beer festival that Cabanillas de la Sierra celebrates again this Saturday, April 5 in its Plaza Mayor.
From 12:00 noon, four local breweries -Vamos a Beer (Cabanillas de la Sierra), 90 Varas, Ursak and Maltacaballar- will dispense their best beers to accompany the popular meal organized by the city council: a good plate of migas at 14:00. Of course, there are no luxuries: you must bring a plate and cutlery or you will have to eat them with your hands.
XXL Bocatas and waffles
In addition to the beers and the popular migas, there will be three well-stocked food trucks. One specialized in industrial-sized sandwiches, another in waffles and one more with less mainstream options: Segoccias, chusquetes and empanadas.
Tastings and concerts to top it all off
For the beer lovers, there will be two guided tastings, at 13:00 and 19:00, to learn (and drink) with a little more knowledge. And when night falls, the day will close with two concerts.
Little matter the 45% chance of rain estimated by some meteorological agents. According to Madrid Secreto the organization informs “it is a tough town that celebrates its festivities in December”. The fair is prepared to withstand a downpour.
More beer options in Madrid
Madrid has given itself over to craft beer and there are more and more bars and breweries betting on local, moving away from the usual industrial ones. Fábrica Maravillas, La Tape or Fogg Bar are some of these temples where you can drink with a good base, combining own production and well-selected taps. There are also La Osita or Península, two projects that confirm what is already a reality: here the passion for good beer is growing steadily. Some of these options, by the way, can be found in this article.
