To talk about carnival in the middle of July would be anachronistic in almost any place… except in Colmenar Viejo. The town of Madrid celebrates its own Summer Carnival this Saturday, July 13: a summer party in which, of course, there will be a parade, brass bands and batucadas.
The event, which is expected to be attended by thousands of colmenareños and colmenareñas, will begin at 20h in the avenue of Los Remedios and will continue along San Sebastian Street to the Plaza de la Constitution.
Once at that point, the route will be divided in two:
- Family and children’s tour. It will continue along Calle Real until it reaches the party in the Plaza del Pueblo, with a stage truck. There will be a performance aimed at this younger audience that will last until 00h.
- Youth and adult tour. It will continue along Libertad Avenue up to Tomillo Street to end at the Las Huertas Fairgrounds. There, from 9pm, the festival Once upon a timewill take place.
At the festival, attendees will find themed entertainment, confetti showers, pyrotechnics and DJs playing commercial, urban, techno and electronic music, among other things. In addition,“there will be bars and food trucks where you can buy food and drink,” says the consistory colmenareño.
Carnival… and Carnavalada
On the morning of the 13th, starting at 9:30 am, a Carnival in collaboration with the Vespa Club Colmenar Viejo has been organized: it will be a tour in which the participants “will travel in costume through the streets of the municipality on Vespas and motorcycles,” reports the City Council of Colmenar Viejo.
The meeting point will be the esplanade of the bullring of the municipality where, after the route through the streets, this activity will end.
