The Fiestas del Carmen are one of the great landmarks of Madrid’s summer, an appointment with tradition, music and popular culture that unites neighborhoods as important and opposite as Puente de Vallecas and Chamberí. In 2025, both areas display a vibrant and diverse program, full of activities for all ages and audiences. If you stay in the capital, this is one of the best plans to survive the torrid days.
Puente de Vallecas: tradition, music and the Batalla Naval (Naval Battle)
From July 12 to 20, Puente de Vallecas becomes the festive heart of Madrid. The streets and squares of the neighborhood are filled with free concerts, children’s activities, gastronomy, sports and events as unique as the Batalla Naval, one of the hallmarks of the Vallecas festival.
- Concerts and shows: performances by artists such as Chambao, Nena Daconte, Tam Tam Go!, Lemot, No me pises que llevo chanclas and tributes to AC/DC, Extremoduro and Platero y Tú, among others. Live music is the protagonist every night at the Recinto Ferial de la calle Payaso Fofó and other stages in the neighborhood.
- Batalla Naval: on Sunday, July 20, starting at 4:30 p.m., the Bulevar de Peña Gorbea is transformed into a water battlefield where neighbors and visitors throw buckets of water at each other and get wet with hoses, in a collective celebration of Vallekano spirit.
- Fireworks: the fireworks at the Cerro del Tío Pío lookout point on the night of July 20 put the finishing touch.
- Activities for everyone: inflatables, castelleras exhibitions, pirate parades, children’s contests, mass and procession of the Virgen del Carmen, fair, ecological attractions, orchestras and violet point.
The Fiestas del Carmen in Vallecas are a burst of identity, music and community, where popular culture and neighborhood pulse are lived in every corner of the neighborhood. You can find the complete program here.
