September is approaching, and that means, among other things, that it’s getting dark earlier and earlier, that kids are going back to school, and that many municipalities in the Community of Madrid are celebrating their festivals. We already know the lineups for some of them: the festivals in Alcorcón, Aranjuez, and Alcalá de Henares… And now we also have the lineup for Parla’s patron saint festivities, where free concerts will be held featuring both local bands and nationally renowned artists.
Pepe y Vizio, Chambao, and Seguridad Social will perform throughout the weekend of September 11–13 at the festivities in this Madrid town. Although they are the most notable names on the lineup, they are not the only ones; the festivities will also include DJs, orchestras, and traditional dances that, like all the shows on the program, can be enjoyed for free.
The patron saint festivities dedicated to Our Lady of Solitude will officially begin on Friday, September 11. Although the main days of the festivities will conclude on Tuesday, September 15, there will be events, contests, and performances from September 6 through 27.
Free Concerts at the Parla Festival, by Day
Admission to the concerts at the Parla patron saint festivities will be completely free. They will take place on the stage at the fairgrounds on Picasso Street, where the fair’s attractions and stalls will also be open from September 11 through 15.
Friday, September 11
- 8:30 p.m.: Concert by the local band The Killer Kids Rock.
- 10:00 p.m.: Opening address by Paco Mayoral, a karate master and one of the town’s most renowned athletes.
- Following the opening speech, there will be a concert by Pepe y Vizio.
- 12:30 a.m.: a fireworks display that can be viewed from the esplanade on Julio Romero de Torres Street.
- 1:00 a.m.: performance by DJ Daniel Ballesteros.
Saturday, September 12
- 8:30 p.m.: concert by the local band Zona Zero.
- 10:00 p.m.: Chambao concert.
- 12:00 a.m.: performance by DJ Armin Heidari.
Sunday, September 13
- 8:30 p.m.: concert by the local band Los Tremendos.
- 10:00 p.m.: Seguridad Social concert.
- 12:00 a.m.: performance by DJ Dexzan.
In addition to the shows at the fairgrounds, there will also be traditional dances throughout the weekend in Parla Este, on Avenida de los Planetas and Calle Planeta Júpiter. The dance on Friday, at 10:30 p.m., will feature the Vermut Mamut orchestra. On Saturday at 9:00 p.m., the Comando Panda orchestra will take the stage, and on Sunday, the musical group Xena will perform at 11:00 p.m. (in this case, at the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad grounds).
In addition, on Monday , September 14 , at 7:30 p.m. , a Superthings concert —aimed at children—will take place at the fairgrounds , and performances by the rociero group La Soledad and RSP will be held at the chapel grounds starting at 7:30 p.m.
To wrap up the main events of the Parla festivities, on Tuesday, September 15, at 8:00 p.m., dance groups from various local associations will perform at the fairgrounds, and at 9:00 p.m., a public dance featuring Fama will be held at the chapel grounds.
