In the midst of a climate of neighborhood opposition and after the necessary preparatory works have been completed, the works to cover the M-30 at Ventas -with a project that the City Council describes as “urban transformation” and which will last until the spring of 2027- have started this Monday, June 30.
In this first phase, in which foundation works will be carried out for the future platform that will cover the road, the effects on traffic are specified in the occupation of a traffic lane of the side road in the northbound direction of the M-30, while in the southbound direction all lanes will be maintained.
On the other hand, in both directions the width of the lanes will be reduced and the maximum speed will be limited to 50 km. the maximum speed is limited to 50 km/h for safety reasons.
Chaos on the M-30 on the first day with works.
At the time of writing this article, according to the Informo website -where you can check traffic conditions in real time- in the area affected by these works there are two lanes where traffic is slow and there are traffic jams or even congestion. In the other two, traffic is considered to be fluid, although in some sections no data is provided on the state of traffic.
A scene that differs from that recorded during the day on Monday, in which there were complicated moments in the circulation after several accidents occurred and several broken down cars were recorded. In view of what happened, the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, asked for “apologies and patience” to the people of Madrid because “complicated times” are coming.
Cuts in the surrounding area
In addition to the effects on traffic, in the surrounding area, Marqués de Mondéjar street will remain closed to traffic between Plaza de América Española and Bocángel, with detours enabled by surrounding streets.
In addition, the EMT Madrid stop 812 has been temporarily moved to Sancho Dávila street, although the usual route of line 12 will remain unchanged.
The new Las Ventas bullring
In the same environment, from 2026 the Las Ventas bullring will undergo a deep remodeling that will last five years and, among other things, will provide it with a fixed restaurant. You can find more details about the project at this link.
