It is well known that summer is the time par excellence for construction work in Madrid, and this week saw the start of the Parque de Ventas works, which will cover part of the M-30 between now and 2027. As a result of the works, one of its sections has a new speed limit and not respecting it means new fines for violators.
Thus, the section of the M-30 affected by the works modifies the current speed limit from 70 km/h to 50 km/h -with the appropriate signage to indicate it-. If the speed limit is exceeded, the penalties faced by drivers will be between 100 and 600 euros.
Depending on the seriousness of the infraction, it may also result in the loss of points on the driver’s license and even criminal consequences. This first phase of the works, as well as the most significant effects on traffic, will take place during the months of July and August.
Affections to the traffic due to the works in the Parque de Ventas.
During the months of July and August, one lane will be occupied in the northbound direction and the same number of lanes will be maintained in the southbound direction , reducing, however, the width of the lanes in both directions as shown in this map.
In addition, due to the urbanization works, from June 24 to the end of August, works will be carried out in the streets Marqués de Mondéjar, Alejandro González and Plaza de la América Española , which will cut the traffic in that section. In the map that can be seen above these lines the City Council proposes an alternative itinerary.
A lane will also be cut in Plaza América Española and the stop 812 of line 12 of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) will be temporarily moved to Sancho Dávila street, although its usual route will not be affected. Any update in this regard will be reflected on the EMT website.

Parque de Ventas and neighborhood opposition
Although the Madrid City Council talks about the project in terms of improving the quality of life of the neighbors of the area, they mobilized last week to show their opposition and disagreement in relation to the Parque de Ventas.
Grouped under the umbrella of the Plataforma de Afectados M-30, they denounce that it does not respond to the real interests of the neighborhood and that it will promote gentrification, among other aspects. You can find more information in this article.
The radar that fines the most in Madrid
Now that new fines are being applied to a stretch of the M-30, it is pertinent to remember that the radar that issues the most fines in all of Madrid is located precisely on that roadway: in one year it collected 5.7 million euros.
