Matadero Madrid has just published a program of activities to enjoy with children. The cultural center has organized the first edition of El Festival Diminuto de artes escénicas, an opportunity to introduce the little ones of the house in the world of cinema and theater through workshops, shows and games. And the best part: most of these activities are free.
The festival will be held on the weekend of February 15 and 16 and will host short shows in tents and caravans distributed around the Matadero square. There will also be an activity in which children over eight years old will be able to star in a story: Secrets, by the company Tombs Creatius.
Festival highlights
- The Journey, by Tombs Creatius. The play, only two minutes long, is a sidereal adventure developed in a fairground caravan.
- Siete, by Ymedioteatro. The show by the comedy duo from Jaén mixes street theater and indoor theater in a space of seven square meters.
- Viajeros del tiempo, by Territorio Violeta. An itinerant show in which the audience will be invited to jump, dance and sing.
- La COSA, by Chico-Trópico. The Centro Organizado de Sonido Ambulante (COSA) is a caravan with a recording studio and musical experimentation; an innovative space that will encourage visitors to make a splash.
- Transparent, by Lupe Estévez. An activity for children between eight months and three years old to play with lights and transparencies.
- Builders of dreams, Minimons. A play starring Ana, the lizard. Invites the audience to participate in the story.
- Catalog of Dreams, Casa Libélula Association. A group of storytellers will seek children’s participation through storytelling.
More activities for children at Matadero
During the festival there will be sensory experiences such as Asombro, in which children between eight months and three years old will be able to interact with fabrics, light tables with sand and walls that project silhouettes, shapes and colors. Or as Light Connectors, which will invite visitors to play with lights and shadows through an overhead projector. Both activities are the brainchild of Arancha Cristo, founder of the parenting space El Hilo Rojo.
