December is still a few days away, but it can be said that Christmas in Madrid has already begun. The switching on of the Christmas lights marks a before and after as far as the Christmas spirit is concerned and Pozuelo de Alarcón flipped the switch on theirs, almost a million LED lights, last Friday. Just a week later, this Friday, December 2, will inaugurate the highest Ferris wheel in Madrid with 46 meters high.
The Ferris wheel will be inside the Christmas area set up for the occasion, located in the parking lot on the Húmera road at the corner of Avenida de Europa, and the enclosure will remain open from December 2 to January 8. In its 26 cabins, the Ferris wheel will be able to accommodate a total of 156 people per trip and two of them are accessible cabins for people with reduced mobility.
The Christmas area will also have a large ice rink of 300 square meters located next to the Ferris wheel, food trucks and a variety of attractions such as bumper cars, the witch train, trampolines or the grasshopper, among others.
What is the Christmas program of Pozuelo?
In addition to the Christmas enclosure, in the center of Pozuelo, in the Plaza del Padre Vallet, children’s attractions will be installed on the same dates: from December 2 to January 8. There will also be room for the Christmas Market, in which about twenty stalls will take the boulevard of the Avenida de Europa from December 9 to 18 with items such as clothing, accessories, decoration or gourmet products. The days of this market will also be enlivened by children’s workshops and musical performances.
Another activity that returns this year for these dates is the Christmas Train, which will run between December 22 and January 6 from 12h to 15h and 18h to 22h, with departure and arrival from the parking lot of the Christmas area.
Among the traditional events of this holiday season will be the delivery of letters to the Three Kings, accompanied by the tasting of the Three Kings cake with chocolate. It will be held on the following dates:
- Wednesday, January 4. In the parking lot of Almansa Street, in the Station, from 12h to 14h.
