As soon as Christmas lights are turned on and December approaches, Christmas is already in the air in Madrid. Some of the great attractions of these dates have already opened, such as the Getafe attractions and also the Nuevos Ministerios Christmas market, a classic (for some time now) of these dates.
El Corte Inglés de la Castellana organizes another year what is defined as the best place to find a gift … and also to have a first class meal. Not surprisingly, the chefs of Cañitas Maite have set up their foodtruck and Dabiz Muñoz has done the same again. And access is free.
Not only can you eat what was the best croquette in the world in 2021 (Cañitas Maite) or the Chicken Waffle (a chicken and waffle burger, which is the star dish of the best chef in the world), but Santerra, El Brillante, Grosso Napoletano, Balbisiana, Pan delirio, Arzábal or Chocolatería San Ginés also have their own stall.
Food, on the one hand, and on the other the classic stalls where you can buy Christmas decorations such as Bethlehem figurines, delicatessen products or different types of toys. A perfect alternative to the classic Christmas gift stores.
In addition and to add interest to the gastronomic offer, from 12h there is a show of music and lights that has passes every half hour … and that is projected on the facade of El Corte Ingles.
The space, on the other hand, in addition to food trucks also has a Bethlehem of 40 square meters (made by the Association of Nativity Scenes of Madrid) and a light and sound show that is projected every half hour (from 18h) on the facade of the main building.)
There are also different points of sale where objects such as Christmas ornaments or figurines for nativity scenes are sold. And other stores that have their space as Disney or Lego.
Gastronomic options
In a way, the food trucks at the Nuevos Ministerios market function as a metaphor and thermometer of the gastronomic state of the capital. Some of the stalls are as follows:
- Santerra: which has its famous croqueta and other dishes such as torreznos al estilo soriano or brioche de carrillera.
- Dabiz Muñoz’s food truck: the chicken burger, wings cooked in two ways (at 64º and 180º) and the waffle burger -which has chicken marinated in brine and fried in what is a secret recipe.
- Brillante: and its calamari sandwiches.
- Pan.Delirio: and its roscón de reyes.
- Grosso Napoletano: and its renowned pizzas.
- San Ginés: and the iconic chocolate with churros.
The market will remain open until January 7 from 11am to 11pm. Admission to the market is free and it is expected that the schedule for January 24 and 31 will be different.
