The Conde de Casal tunnel joins the already long list of works that are marking the summer in Madrid. From this Saturday July 19 at 11:00 a.m. until Tuesday 22nd – Total closure: from Saturday July 19 at 11:00 a.m. until Tuesday July 22nd at 6:00 a.m.
- Night closures: nights of July 22-23 and 23-24, from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am.
- Alternative traffic: during the whole period there will be one lane open in each direction on the surface to reduce the impact on traffic.
According to the City Council, the dates have been chosen to coincide with times of lower traffic intensity and thus make the works compatible with the mobility of the area. These interventions are part of the new Conde de Casal interchange, one of the major infrastructure projects underway.
Other works to consider this summer

This closure is in addition to the other actions that are transforming Madrid this summer: the undergrounding of the A-5 to create the Paseo Verde del Suroeste, the works in Parque Ventas that will connect Salamanca and Ciudad Lineal with a green platform, and the start of the undergrounding of Paseo de la Castellana.
August will also be full of cuts and detours in different parts of the city. In addition to the already known disruptions in Conde de Casal, there will be new interruptions both in Cercanías and in Madrid’s main roads:
- Line C-5: service interrupted between Embajadores and Villaverde Alto until July 30.
- Lines C-3 and C-4: the Sol tunnel is closed between Chamartín and Atocha from July 19 to August 30.
- Renfe: has enabled shuttle trains in Villaverde Alto to serve affected users.
Road works:
- A-5: access to the M-30 tunnel in the Madrid direction will be closed until the end of August.
Other works:
- Comprehensive renovation underway on Metro Line 6 (Circular).
- Works on Paseo de la Castellana continue to generate traffic cuts and changes.
