The success of El Corte Inglés in Madrid is materialized with the children’s show that the company founded by Ramón Areces has been organizing every Christmas since 1979: Cortylandia. The event has become an unrivaled classic that attracts children from all over the world every year.
The 46th edition of Cortylandia is already here: 20 figures made by a professional fallero have been installed on the façade of building number six on Maestro Victoria Street. They are the animals that are part of The City of Time, a Christmas story starring Clock, the talking cuckoo clock that marks the beat of the minutes and seconds. Deer, squirrels, geese, rabbits, foxes, ducks and mice dance to its rhythm, creating a magical and joyful atmosphere.
Every year, Cortylandia brings to Madrid a new story of real animation that takes a whole year to prepare: first a model is designed with the initial idea, then the characters and lights are modeled, then the scaffolding is made to place the dolls and rehearsals are made until the show takes shape. A whole process that results in an ideal Christmas show for the youngest members of the family.
