When something has been celebrated for more than 40 years, it can be said, without fear of misunderstanding, that it is a tradition. And that is what Cortylandia has become for some time now: something that is passed down from generation to generation and that every year brings together grandparents, parents and children in front of one of the facades of the Corte Inglés de Preciados. This year the show is 44 years old and will inaugurate its 2023 edition this Friday, November 24.
As usual, Cortylandia has been installed on the facade overlooking the street Maestro Victoria, where on this occasion the protagonists of this show of moving figures will be The Cortygatos. And the common thread, another tradition of these dates: putting up the Christmas tree.
The maximum exponent of the expectation for this Christmas show is probably the Unofficial Cortylandia account, which -in addition to having an archive of previous years- through its social networks monitors the progress of the assembly of the show in different points of our geography. And this is what the one in Madrid looked like just a few days ago.

The start of Christmas in Madrid
The inauguration of Cortylandia is just one of the signs that this week officially begins Christmas in the capital: on Thursday 23 will be the Christmas lights switch-on (which this year has as its epicenter the Puerta del Sol) and on Friday will be running the Naviluz service.
