Despite the losses it has registered in Spain, Costco Wholesale announces a possible opening in the Community of Madrid, this time in a strategic location, a few meters from the A-2. Its new superstore, with 50,000 square meters divided into two plots, would be located next to Oasiz, the famous shopping center in Torrejón de Ardoz. Thus, the American company would add, with the one in Getafe and the one in Las Rozas, three stores in the outskirts of the capital.
The operation, as reported by Idealista, is pending several urban planning procedures and the lifting of an embargo imposed by New Asset Management (NAM), which is claiming 3.5 million euros from Allison Iberia, the owner of the land.
With this move, Costco intends to grow and consolidate its presence in the Spanish market. In addition to Madrid, other cities in Malaga, Valencia and Asturias could host one of its superstores during the company’s next few years.
What makes Costco different?

Costco is already on the lips of many shopping lovers for its successful business model: its product diversification and its membership system make its stores very attractive. Yes, you have to pay an annual fee of 36 euros per year (30 for the self-employed) to enter its stores, but the advantages it has are hard to beat, especially for large families.
The fee includes discounts at gas stations, electronics products with warranties of up to 3 years and food items in XXL size or in family packs for prices that only supermarkets like Action or Makro could beat.
