With the gradual installation of the lights in the capital and the arrival of turrones and panetones in supermarkets, there are several indications that at this point in October, Christmas 2025 in Madrid is slowly but inexorably approaching.
Following the approval of the five million euro contract by the Governing Board for the installation, maintenance and dismantling of elements of the Christmas lighting, the Madrid City Council has provided some details about how it will be this year.
As for the dates, as usual, the lighting will take place at the end of November and will last until Epiphany -as a reference, in 2024 the lighting was set up on November 28th-. Once again, the lights will be distributed throughout the 21 districts of the city, reaching more than 240 locations.
About the designs, it has been revealed that there will be 7,134 chains, 126 cherry trees and 13 large luminous fir trees, in addition to other motifs: “they add up to a length of 157 kilometers, the equivalent of going from Madrid to Toledo and back,” in the words of the local administration.
The novelties of the Christmas lights 2025 in Madrid.

Given the good reception they enjoyed last year, the lights designed by children of the first cycle of primary school will again be part of the lighting. The winning proposals “are already being transformed into Christmas lights”, according to the Madrid City Council.
All the lighting will be composed of energy-efficient LED bulbs, but unlike previous years, this time most of them have been replaced by “warmer shades to provide a closer and more enveloping atmosphere”.
