The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), in its annual report on the 50 fixed and section-based speed cameras most frequently violated in our country last year, has revealed which speed camera issues the most tickets in Madrid: it is located at kilometer marker 20 on the M-40— near Mercamadrid—and in 2025 recorded a total of 43,500 speeding citations.
That same report—which compiles data since 2017 and is available on the DGT’s website—shows that although it ranks sixth on the list in terms of the number of citations, these have decreased significantly over the past two years.
In 2024, this speed camera ranked first in the report with 74,553 citations, a position it had already held in 2023 with a total of 118,149 citations.
These figures aren’t just striking on their own: they’re even more so when compared to 2022, when the number stood at just 17,412 citations. In other words, from 2022 to 2023, the number of fines—or the number of violations—increased by 100,737.
The cities at the top of the latest report are Valencia (with 90,766 citations), Alicante (72,557), Navarre (67,445), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (49,641), and Málaga (45,050).
