The parameter “less than 500 euros” in the search for rental apartments on housing portals is comparable to the search for daily menus at less than 10 €. Prices of more than a decade ago. That is why the Madrid City Council is once again raffling apartments in January 2025 for people under 35 years of age.
The vast majority of the homes are located in the eco-neighborhood of Vallecas. Specifically in the development of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, 14, of which 205 one-bedroom apartments will be raffled. These homes respond to a coherence in construction based on sustainability and energy efficiency.
The total number of apartments to be raffled amounts to 266 and the rest of them are distributed among the districts of Barajas, Carabanchel, Centro, Latina, Usera, Vicálvaro, Villaverde and Villa de Vallecas.
The president of the Empresa Municipal de la Vivienda y Suelo (EMVS) of Madrid and delegate for Housing Policies, Álvaro González, has assured that “these homes will allow young people in Madrid to become emancipated and start a new life without having to spend a large part of their salary on paying rent”.
How to apply for these homes?
The housing is aimed at people under 35 years of age who meet very specific characteristics. Applicants must be registered in the EMVS registry and have an income of less than 41,370 euros gross per year. They cannot, either, be owners of another home or holders of a public rental contract.
