The parameter “less than 500 euros” in the search for rental apartments in home buying and selling portals is comparable to the search for daily menus at less than 10€. Prices of more than a decade ago. That is why the Madrid City Council is once again raffling apartments this January for under 35 years for 500 € per month (on average). It will be next Monday, January 20 and it is the first to be held this year.
The vast majority of the homes are located in the eco-neighborhood of Vallecas. Specifically in the promotion of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, 14, homes that respond to a consistency in construction based on sustainability and energy efficiency.
The total number of apartments to be drawn next Monday amounts to 266 and the rest of them are distributed among the districts of Barajas, Carabanchel, Centro, Latina, Usera, Vicálvaro, Villaverde and Villa de Vallecas. On the other hand, another 2,200 apartments for rent have already begun to be tendered through the Suma Vivienda Plan in the residential development in Los Berrocales and Los Ahijones.
The president of the Empresa Municipal de la Vivienda y Suelo (EMVS) of Madrid and delegate of Housing Policies, Álvaro González, has assured that “these homes will allow young people in Madrid to become emancipated and start a new life without having to devote a large part of their salary to paying rent”. According to the City Council, the rent of these apartments “will not exceed 30% of the income of the successful bidder”.
How to opt for these apartments for 500€?
The apartments are aimed at people under 35 years of age who meet very specific characteristics. Applicants must be registered in the EMVS registry and have an income of less than €41,370 gross per year. They cannot, either, be owners of another home or holders of a public rental contract.
