Castanets, a two-key oboe or a fan with a dance scene. All of the above are objects that we can see from yesterday in the free exhibition Echoes of the Baroque. The soundtrack of Goyeneche’s Madrid, which brings us closer to the music that was listened to in the 18th century, the time of the founder of Nuevo Baztán: Juan de Goyeneche.
Through multiple documents and other pieces to which the public does not normally have access -such as scores, instruments, treatises, librettos, fans, costumes, engravings or plans- a landscape is drawn in which music was always present: in the theater and in churches, but also in streets, squares and in palatial and domestic rooms.
It was also present at celebrations, whether they were of a courtly, processional, religious, military, civil or popular nature. That is why it will not be missing during the tour: the music of the time will accompany the public during this journey through the best of a Baroque that was already in the process of changing to other styles.

The musical library of Madrid
Music lovers have a real temple in Chamberí: the Biblioteca Musical Víctor Espinós, a place where they lend instruments for free and where you can reserve rehearsal rooms, but where they also organize concerts and exhibitions. Of course, they also have material on loan such as treatises and scores. You can find all the information in this article.
