The Pilar neighborhood does not need a long weekend to celebrate its festivities in style. From October 8 to 12, five days full of free concerts, parades, fireworks, sports activities and even a chocolatada. Although the national holiday of Día de la Hispanidad does not move from Sunday to Monday, that will not prevent neighbors and visitors to enjoy these days.
Nacha Pop, Shaila Dúrcal and Efecto Pasillo are some of the artists headlining the concerts in the Pilar neighborhood. All of them are free and open access and will be located in the fairgrounds of the Vaguada Park, which will be transformed into a real stage.
In addition, this year will be held for the first time the Noche Joven, a festival with emerging singers such as Alvaro Mayo, participant of Operación Triunfo 2023. And Saturday 11 is dedicated to Children’s Day with children’s activities and an English theater for the little ones.

Although the festivities begin on October 9, the day before there will be a small preview with several neighborhood groups: The Talisker Band, Rock’n’Heels, Gatos y Cacos and DSEED. Nacha Pop will officially kick off the festivities with their concert on Thursday, October 9 at 10 pm. Led by Nacho García Vega, the band will play hits such as La chica de ayer and Lucha de gigantes.
On Friday, October 10, La Noche Joven will bring four young artists to the Pilar neighborhood: Álvaro Mayo, Paula Koops, JP and Twins Melody, who will take the stage from 9:30 p.m. until the wee hours of the morning.
And back with the greatest hits, Efecto Pasillo will bring songs like Pan y mantequilla or No importa que llueva in their concert on Saturday, October 11. That same day, there will also be a tribute to Hombres G by Los G Band. Finally, Shaila Dúrcal will close the musical days on Sunday 12, followed by the fireworks in La Alcazaba Park which will bring the festivities to an end.
Parades, tournaments and lots of games

Beyond the music, the festivities cannot be without a program of activities for all audiences. The morning of Sunday, October 12, will be dedicated to commemorating Ibero-American folklore for Columbus Day. There will be a parade and also a sample of dance and music. In addition, on the same day there will be a popular chocolatada with musical entertainment at 6:30 pm.
The little ones can enjoy the Children’s Day on Saturday 11, with a circus parade, the children’s theater in English “Welcome to the Jungle” and games such as foosball, go-karts or a climbing wall, among others. They will also be able to participate in the children’s categories of all the sports activities organized during the festivities.
On October 12 there will be a popular race from Tagle Park (North Park), located on Monforte de Lemos Avenue. There are fry, children, youth and senior categories and registrations are free until October 8 from its website. For those who prefer team sports, there will be indoor soccer tournaments , soccer 7, basketball, volleyball and other racquet sports.
