There are still more than three months to go before the end of the year and the weekends are getting too short. Until 2026, there are only five national holidays left for Madrid workers to enjoy. This year, the calendar does not favor, as many of them fall on a Saturday or Sunday.
October will only have one holiday, the 12th, which is the national holiday of Columbus Day. On this occasion, although it falls on Sunday, in the Community of Madrid it will not be moved to Monday, so there will be no long weekend. However, the festive atmosphere will be present with more than 50 concerts to be held that week.
The same will happen on November 1, with All Saints’ Day, which will be on a Saturday and will not extend the working days off. While other years there has been a long bridge to celebrate it, this year all plans should be condensed around this holiday and Halloween, which is just the day before.
December, full of holidays

The month that accumulates the most holidays is December, becoming the only one with a three-day weekend. This break in the working day will be from Saturday, December 6 to Monday, December 8. Constitution Day (December 6) cannot be taken advantage of as it falls on a Saturday, but Immaculate Conception Day (December 8) will be on Monday.
This small respite will be a precedent for the Christmas vacations and a perfect occasion to soak up the Christmas spirit, as the city will already be decorated and all the shop windows will be ready to offer their best gifts. Thus, the last holiday will be December 25, which celebrates the Nativity of the Lord and will be a Thursday when it will not be necessary to go to work.
Only in the city of Madrid: The Almudena

For the citizens of Madrid there will be an extra holiday: the local holiday of La Almudena. It is commemorated on November 9, which this year falls on a Sunday but will be moved to Monday, as announced months ago by the City Council government team, led by José Luis Martínez Almeida.
The great challenge is to reconcile the work calendar with the celebration of traditions. Although it is not always possible to extend the holidays, the programs will try to maintain the spirit of celebration. This year, special advantage will be taken of La Almudena (November 9), Immaculate Conception Day (December 8) and Christmas (December 25).
