The program for the San Isidro Festival has already been released, and in addition to the announcement of the 2026 free concerts, there is a full lineup of activities that, from May 7 to 17, will once again bring to the surface that authentic Madrid that emerges at this time of year. And although it often gets a bit lost amid the chotis and street parties, the new edition of the Pottery Fair is one you’ll want to keep on your radar.
This fair of popular ceramics and pottery, which for its 44th edition returns to Madrid’s Plaza de Comendadoras, will be held over four days and will bring together in a single space the most representative and respected pottery and ceramics centers —renowned for their artisanal heritage—in our country.
The Feria de la Cacharrería will feature all kinds of pieces, both for domestic use and decoration. Additionally, as part of the event, there will be a themed exhibition centered on pottery featuring animal motifs, which “have been the protagonists and inspiration for many of the pieces that have been created, giving rise to diverse shapes and motifs,” according to the Madrid City Council.
For the exhibition, each of the participating workshops will contribute a unique piece from their region related to the theme.
Live demonstrations and free pottery workshops for children

As complementary activities, visitors can attend live demonstrations of the various processes involved in the artisanal creation of the pieces: from kneading the clay and throwing on the wheel to decorating the ceramic pieces.
Thus, on both May 15 and 17 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a pottery wheel demonstration led by Alejandro Espejel, workshop master at the Francisco Alcántara Official School of Ceramics in Madrid.
Also part of the program are free introductory pottery workshops for children, taught by master potters. They are scheduled for May 14 and 16 at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., lasting one hour and focusing on the theme of depicting animals in traditional pottery.
